KUALA LUMPUR: In conjunction with the Merdeka celebrations, Proton is offering 62 units of the Proton X70 Merdeka Edition (ME) to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of Malaysia's independence.
The limited edition Premium variant of the model will sport snow white or red flame paint.
On top of body paint, other differences on the X70 ME include Quartz Black paint for the roof and A-pillar to enhance exterior styling. The design update includes all-around door visors, a rear bumper scuff plate and a customised Merdeka Edition emblem on the tailgate.
A special numbered Merdeka Edition emblem is also added inside. The interior is also enhanced with new floor mats and trunk mat to go with the Premium Nappa leather seats and glass roof.
"The Proton X70 Merdeka Edition was born out of Proton's desire to celebrate Malaysia's Merdeka anniversary month. We are extremely thankful for the support Malaysian car buyers and the Malaysian government has shown to Proton, so this is the company's way of creating a special version of the Proton X70 as a small gesture of thanks to all Malaysians," said Proton's chief executive officer, Dr Li Chunrong.
Pricing of the Proton X70 ME is RM126,100.
