Modenas Elegan 250 gains ABS

GOOD news for scooter riders in Malaysia as you can now get a ride equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) - and at an affordable price - with the launch of the 2021 Modenas Elegan 250 ABS.

Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas) has priced the Elegan 250 ABS at an interesting RM15,315, making it the most value-for-money scooter in its segment.

As the name implies, the main upgrade is the two-channel ABS for the 260mm disc up front and 240mm at the back.

"The launch of the ABS variant of the Modenas Elegan 250 provides Malaysian customers with more choices, especially in the maxi-scooter segment," said Modenas chief executive officer Roslan Roskan.

"The ABS is becoming increasingly more important in the motorcycle world and, coupled with the variant's other enhancements, I am confident that it will prove to be a success in the market."

The Elegan 250 ABS features projector headlights with LED daytime-running lights along with X-shaped LED tail lights.

There are two colours on offer, namely Satin Matte Red and Satin Matte Black.

Practicality wise, the Elegan 250 ABS gets a multi-functional digital speedometer in which you can cycle through several displays, including trip meter, clock, battery voltage indicator and oil service reminder.

The scooter is also equipped with a larger storage compartment that now fits two helmets, as well as a USB charger socket near the handlebar for convenient on-the-go charging.

The Elegan 250 ABS is mechanically-identical to the previous bike, utilising a SOHC 249.1cc engine that makes 22.1hp at 7,000rpm and 22.4Nm of torque at 6,500rpm.

It also comes with a two-year or 20,000km, whichever comes first, warranty.
