KUALA LUMPUR: Mak Cun’s Adventure, a mobile game application developed by Media Prima Labs, is expected to attract more than 100,000 users within three months.
The interactive game is a local version of popular app “Diner Dash”, where users help the main character, Mak Cun (played by Erma Fatima in the popular TV series), prepare orders for customers at her stall.
Media Prima Digital chief executive officer Rafiq Razali said some 5,000 users have downloaded the application so far.
“There are 17 million gamers in the country and we are targeting 100,000 users to download this application within three months. All of us in Media Prima Digital are overwhelmed by the trust given to us in developing the game for Mak Cun, a brand we are all familiar with as one of the most popular TV dramas in Malaysia.
“Our previous success in introducing games like Ejen Ali and J Revolusi will be a challenge and a catalyst for us to provide better games in the future.
“Mak Cun’s Adventure is able to add value to Mak Cun’s brand as well as to prove our dedication to making Media Prima the leading content company in the country,” he said at the launch of the app.
From nasi campur to char kuey teow, the interactive game will tests users’ skills and ability to strategise.
Rafiq said Media Prima Digital was hoping to expand the application to the international market.
“We are hoping that in the future, if the game is a success, we could expand the market to neighbouring countries. Of course, everyone in the world has access to download the game, but most importantly, we are focusing on the local market first for now. This game is very addictive.
“Ejen Ali had four million downloads, including 1.5 million downloads from Indonesia. We feel that this game can attract more gamers and it is a family oriented game,” he added.
Media Prima Labs product manager Melissa Woo said the Diner Dash game was one of the most popular interactive games and the idea of creating Mak Cun’s Adventure derived from it.
“Most gamers like to play Diner Dash... (so we thought) why not we invent something similar, putting local content in it. It was challenging to develop the game, like the previous ones we did (Ejen Ali and J Revolusi) but we managed to pull it off successfully.
“It took us several months to develop the game. I hope it will have more downloads because there is local content in it. Users will enjoy this game,” she said.
Mak Cun’s Adventure can be downloaded for free on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
