KUALA LUMPUR: The rebooted Nokia 8110 a.k.a. the Banana Phone, has finally arrived on the Malaysian shores today.
The feature phone, first appeared in 1996 and in the Matrix movie, still retains the original Nokia craftsmanship, but with today’s functionality.
Announced in February this year at the Mobile World Congress exhibition in Barcelona, Spain, the new Nokia 8110 comes with the bells and whistles of a smartphone such as 4G connectivity, apps store, apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Search, Facebook and Twitter. WhatsApp, meanwhile, is expected to be available in the phone's upcoming OS update.
With a familiar and easy to use interface, the Nokia 8110 features intuitive tactile mechanics, with slide to answer and end calls, as well as an addictive helicopter style spin on its axis.
To keep it running flawlessly, the phone is powered by the Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform. And yes, it comes with a revamped version of Snake.
This time, the phone is available in two vibrant colours to choose from - Traditional Black and Banana Yellow, at a suggested retail price of RM285.
