#TECH: For cleaner indoor air

KUALA LUMPUR: As we spend more time at home and indoors, ensuring that the air we breathe is clean and clear from any unwanted particles, pollutants as well as bacteria is important.

In helping consumers get cleaner, pollutant-free air indoors, Electrolux has introduced the Pure A9 air purifier.

The device is designed to fit well into modern homes as it comes with Internet of Things (IoT) functionality.

On the outside, the Electrolux Pure A9 purifier looks cool and modern, with a long and square cylindrical shape at about two and a half feet tall.

It comes in dark grey colour tones, and a leather handle. The top half of the device is covered with fabric, while the bottom half with mesh aluminium.

On top of the air purifier is the display with LED indicators to show level of the air purifier speed.

According to Electrolux, the Pure A9 air purifier works by responding to the air environment in a particular home.

It uses a PureSense system, which is said to be able to intelligently adapt to air changes in the environment.

Installing this air purifier is pretty easy. One just needs to open the bottom lower part of the system, which is magnetically connected, and just push in the filter into its place.

One this is done, just download the Electrolux Wellbeing app, to help you control the air purifier from your phone, as well as monitor the air quality.

By linking the purifier and its associated app to the cloud, Electrolux can show the product's users real-time data about their air quality, inside and outside, while tracking interior air improvement over time. In addition, the Pure A9 continuously monitors its filter usage, alerting users when it's time to order a replacement filter.

If you have connected the air purifier to the Wellbeing app, you will be presented with a number of charts that show average indoor air vs outdoor air statistics, humidity level, temperature as well as total volatile organic compounds (TVOC). TVOC is a grouping of a wide range of organic chemical compounds to simplify reporting when these are present in ambient air or emissions.

While all these "compounds" are not visible to the naked eyes, having the knowledge that they are there in the air and having the ability to know their levels are good. At least you would know, if someone falls sick at home, you can check the air quality and its content.

The Pure A9 works by creating a spiral movement of air, which is enough to cover a big living room as well as bedrooms.

Besides that, the Pure A9 is also an intelligent device. Being a connected home appliance, it has the ability to understand the daily usage patterns of a household. For example, if the members of the house are away, it can run on a smart schedule, which will maximise its filter usage.

Users can also check the level of the flter usage on the Wellbeing app, so that they would know when it's time to change the filter.

The Electrolux Pure A9 is priced at RM2,798.
