PETALING JAYA: Secretary General of the Ministry of International Trade and Industries (MITI), Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali launched the MyReskill IoT programme, a programme by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) that aims to reach higher productivity level through the adoption of technology among industry players.
In his speech delivered during the virtual launch of MyReskill IoT Programme, Lokman Hakim said that there is still more that needs to be done to further accelerate technological adoption which contributes to a 30 per cent uplift in productivity by 2030.
"MyReskill IoT programme is also vital for boosting productivity at enterprise, sectoral and national levels."
He also added that technological adoption requires more high-skilled talent to be in the labour market. Therefore, MyReskill IoT programme will encourage and support the upskilling and reskilling of the current workforce to meet the current and future needs of the industry.
The MyReskill IoT programme will take participants through a five half-day virtual workshop where they will get the opportunity to learn IoT and advanced technical knowledge. Subsequently, participants will have a week to develop proof-of-concept projects for their organisations with support from MPC, technology centres and technology partners.
In his opening remarks, MPC's director general, Datuk Abdul Latif Abu Seman said, "The role of technological innovation in improving productivity has been accepted at global level. As reported in the recently launched OECD Economic Survey Malaysia 2021, the use of technology among businesses needs further boost to drive productivity growth".
During the launching event, Swift Bridge Technologies Sdn Bhd, a local wholesale trade company shared how the application of IoT has enabled them to digitalise the task that has previously been carried out manually. As a result, the company has achieved cost savings up to RM300,000 which subsequently has improved its operational efficiency (OEE) by 33 per cent and increased their productivity dramatically.
