#TECH: KitaJaga app utilises NFT to promote charity

KUALA LUMPUR: KitaJaga peer-to-peer (P2P) charity application today announced that it has started utilising a blockchain technology of non-fungible token (NFT) to promote charitable activities through gamification. The first project involving NFT is KitaJaga NFT campaign which was launched in early October. It is a four-week campaign to award 20 users with exclusive NFT artworks created by Malaysian artist Jiwo. Five users will be selected every week, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Meanwhile, users who receive an NFT artwork from KitaJaga can resell it on Pentas IO or other marketplaces.

Every time KitaJaga NFTs are traded, 40 per cent of the selling prices will be deducted as a royalty fee and it will be deposited into KitaJaga wallet as a donation, to cover operating expenses of the app.

KitaJaga's founder Reza Razali said, "We are thrilled to bring NFT onboard our P2P charity platform. The four-week campaign aims at encouraging NFT enthusiasts to give help to those who have raised white flags on KitaJaga app. At the same time, they can have an opportunity to collect exclusive and tradable NFTs."

KitaJaga will hold weekly sessions to allow users to submit their claim for an NFT and its system will automatically choose the first five users. The first claim session will be held online on Oct 16, 2021 at 12 pm.

Users who want to submit their claim for an NFT must meet two requirements:

1. They must already complete a challenge of helping a certain number of white flags on KitaJaga, and

2. Users are also required to have a MetaMask crypto wallet to participate. The first week's challenge is to help two white flags

This inaugural KitaJaga NFT campaign features digital artworks created by Shahril Majid, Malaysia-based artist and illustrator, also known as Jiwo. The theme of this campaign is Frontliners, where each of the 20 pieces of artwork will feature a frontliner, such as a healthcare worker, a policeman, a food delivery rider, and a grocery shop worker.

"The use of blockchain has given KitaJaga an edge in promoting P2P charity through interesting gamification programs. We realize that this campaign may open up a path for KitaJaga to offer P2P charity to global community too. We want to keep exploring NFT to find more ways to utilize it to help us further improve user experience. So, stay tuned!" Reza explained.

"Above all, times are tough now and people are still raising white flags on KitaJaga. Let's contribute what we can," he concluded.
