#TECH: Xiaomi gives back

KUALA LUMPUR: Xiaomi recently wrapped-up its corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign in Malaysia with supplying food and household essentials to 600 families under the Program Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT) in various states including Johor, Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Selangor and Terengganu.

The technology giant has always been a brand that prioritises their fans, customers as well as the community they operate in. In partnership with Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia, the initiative was Xiaomi's small way to help local underprivileged communities with their daily struggles.

"We are grateful to our Malaysian Xiaomi Fans and customers for their continuous support and love. Their support has placed Xiaomi where we are today, and we want to be able to give back and share our success with Malaysia. We thank Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia for their good work to help the communities in need, and we hope our contribution will help alleviate the daily struggles of these families. We look forward to more opportunities to give back even more to the local communities in Malaysia," said Xiaomi's country manager for Malaysia and Singapore, Nicolas Shi who, along with Xiaomi International's general manager for Southeast Asia, K. M. Leong contributed their time and energy together with Xiaomi's staff and Fans to prepare the essential care packs.

Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia's chief operations officer, Johan Halid, in a statement said that one of their key objectives is to help the underprivileged and Xiaomi was the first consumer tech company they've partnered with.

"We are thankful for their time and effort in preparing for this contribution to support the local communities in need. We hope to see more industry leaders stepping up to provide care and aid to local communities that need support. Hopefully, with Xiaomi onboard, more will follow suit."
