#TECH: Move to nurture digital skills among youth

CYBERJAYA: Returning for its sixth year, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), is organising the #mydigitalmaker Fair 2022 to nurture digital skills and talent among the local youth to prepare and futureproof them for the rapidly-growing and evolving digital economy.

The fair is taking place in five zones (regions) across the country from Oct 16 to Nov 13, 2022. These zones include the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, followed by Sabah and Sarawak, then North, South, and ending in Kuala Lumpur (Central).

Designed to provide a hands-on digital experience for students, educators, and even families, #mydigitalmaker Fair 2022 offers a multitude of programmes that focus on the use of digital technology such as digital marketing workshops, career path awareness sessions, talent competitions, exhibitions, and tutorials covering coding, animation, drone technology, robotics and many more.

MDEC chief executive officer Ts. Mahadhir Aziz, said, MDEC will continue to uphold its mandate to fully equip Malaysians with the latest digital skills based on technological programmes and digital resources, especially for students, parents, and educators, in both virtual and physical formats.

"The fair carried out under the #mydigitalmaker Movement banner, has successfully raised awareness on the importance of innovation and digital creativity to more than 100,000 individuals.

"MDEC is committed in helping the younger generation to hone their talents and skills, enabling them to seize various opportunities in the digital economy, in line with Malaysia Digital, a national strategic initiative by MDEC," he added.

The organisers of #mydigitalmaker Fair 2022 have planned interesting activities in collaboration with five (5) strategic partners – Jazari Robot Resources, Synapze Sdn Bhd, Kedah State Government through Kedah Digital Center and Kulim Technology Park Corporation (KTPC), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka and Aerocentric Events.

The #mydigitalmaker Movement is a public-private-academic initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MoE) that was launched in line with the nation's goal to produce digital talents that are competent to drive the nation's digital economy in the future.

To date, the #mydigitalmaker Movement has benefited more than two million students who have participated in various programmes encompassing integrative thinking, coding curriculum, co-curricular activities. These were organised in schools as well as being co-curriculum activities.
