KUALA LUMPUR: Touch 'n Go Group has partnered with Visa to launch its first numberless corporate social responsibility (CSR)-linked Visa prepaid card in Malaysia.
With stronger privacy with enhanced card security controls, the card acts as a complementary payment channel to the eWallets for users to make payments at merchants who do not have the Duitnow QR code.
TNG Digital Sdn Bhd's chief executive officer, Alan Ni said Touch 'n Go aims to become a socially responsible company.
"We also plan on becoming a point of convenience for users. With a Visa card, the money in your wallet is universally accepted, be it in Malaysia or overseas. The card also has some unique safety features such as being the first numberless card in Malaysia, users can control many things via the app such as turning on or off their overseas spending, deciding daily spending limits, etc. The card is, therefore, socially responsible, convenient, and secure. With all the features incorporated in this card, Touch 'n Go eWallet is now able to offer all the services equivalent to an alternative bank to all eWallet users for free. We expect strong demand for the card as this will expand our eWallet customers' payment horizon internationally," he said.
Aside from being Malaysia's first numberless card for privacy and fraud prevention, it is an instant virtual card issuance, users can get full control over their card's security and manage payment settings from their eWallet, make international online and offline payments, as well as make global cash withdrawals at enabled ATMs and touchpoints.
RM2 will be donated to United Voice, Malaysia's first non-governmental organisation (NGO) run by persons with learning disabilities, for every card applied, and the proceeds will be used to run projects to upskill, train, and educate learning-impaired people for new employment opportunities.
The initiative is the Group's extensive collaboration with United Voice since 2022, with 10 paintings purchased from United Voice artists. The paintings were then incorporated on enhanced Touch 'n Go cards.
Meanwhile, the new Visa card design incorporated Damien Wong's artwork, an autistic United Voice talent.
The painting consists of splashes of colours in blue, green, and yellow, which is how the world looks to Wong.
Users can apply for their Visa card via the eWallet app with only an RM5 delivery fee.
