Ana Tomy x Crunch roll out a book for goal-diggers

ACHIEVING goals isn't easy. If it is, people will not need to set New Year resolutions every year only to abandon them a few months later. And no one will read books from self-help aisles or attend motivational courses.

When we want to reach a goal, we are often focused on the victory — achieving an ideal weight, running our first marathon or hitting a certain sales target.

But a goal, more often than not, is the culmination of the successes of smaller goals.

If you want to lose weight, for instance, those smaller goals include eating smaller meals, reducing sugar intake, having adequate sleep, exercising and managing stress.

To give structure to achieving goals, local planner brand Ana Tomy has partnered with Crunch by Nuffnang, a community-driven content platform that "inspire growth among young adults".

For Ana Tomy co-founder Jon Lee, who is also in charge of business development, the partnership allows Crunch to express its specialty in a book that Ana Tomy makes.

"This is our first goal book. We all have goals we want to achieve but we seldom have the structure for them. This book gives you just that," he says.

DO IT YOURSELF

The book is in bright yellow so it stares at you on the table and you "can't run a way from the commitment you made to yourself", says Lee.

There are pages in the book for you to write your goals and even your baseline ethics — things you wouldn't do or shortcuts you wouldn't make to achieve certain things.

In fact, to fill up the initial part of this book and set your big goal, you really need to sit down and think hard about who you are, above all else.

After you have decided what you'd like to achieve, you then plan backwards — so you can see clearly the smaller goals you need to attain to get to your big goal.

The hardcover has space for six goals.

"We can't aim for too much. It's better to aim for a small number of goals and use your time and thoughts to achieve them rather than have many without achieving any," explains Lee.

Crunch by Nuffnang product lead Emily Goh says the book is a guided journey to understanding what matters to you, how to break down your long-term goals into short-term ones, how to keep yourself accountable for them and understand what works and what doesn't.

"Hopefully, with this, you can carve out an intentional journey to be the best version of yourself," she says.

LAUNCH TO CELEBRATE

To celebrate the launch, Ana Tomy and Crunch by Nuffnang joined hands to host an event with Bash Clothing founders Cecilia Ooi and Maxine Khor and The White Atelier founder Careen Tan, among others, at the Ana Tomy store, Zhongshan Building, Kampung Attap.

Lee affirms that he will use the Crunch Goals Planner to lose weight.

In fact, everyone in the company will also be aiming to achieve both personal and professional goals.

"How many times have you received planners from companies that you don't use?" asks Lee.

"And why does it have to be about dates when it could be about goals? You can set your goals at any time of the year, not just a resolution when the year starts.

"We want to make products that bond with their owners. Once you have that, the product will be used, loved and ease its owner's life," says Lee.

The Crunch Goals Planner is priced at RM128. Visit Ana Tomy's website, or follow Ana Tomy and Crunch on Instagram to find out more.
