Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) makes a stylish return this year following its move to a virtual fashion show last year, due to the pandemic.
As we slowly transition to endemic, KLFW is ready to showcase ready-to-wear collections from Malaysian fashion designers through both digital and physical fashion shows from Nov 1 to 7.
Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week founder Andrew Tan said despite going through some tumultuous times, he is grateful to see the resilience in the participating designers.
On Nov 1 and 2, there will be a series of digital shows on Hurr.TV, where viewers will get to view collections from 12 popular names in the fashion scene such as Andy Bandy, Celeste and Cassey Gan.
From Nov 3 to 7, another 26 physical shows will take place, where models will be parading read-to-wear pieces down the runway at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur.
In addition, KLFW will also be reviving the , an exhibition that pays homage to the country's lush versatile textiles.
The exhibition will showcase a collection that features a hand-blocked batik design that was curated by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, and produced exclusively by Yus of Kakee Batik.
Another exhibition is also set to take place at Pavilion to show off a special collaboration between KLFW, Taylor's University and Barbie Mattel.
Called The Patung Project, students from Taylor's Fashion Design Technology programme will showcase their artwork of dressing up 12 Barbie dolls in versatile garments based on four artisanal themes such as Nyonya Beading, Tekat Embroidery, Calligraphy and Henna.
