ONE of the more revered Cantopop stars in Hong Kong, singer Alan Tam Wing-lun, has always enjoyed collaborating with artistes from across the globe, including Malaysia.
In fact, the 66-year-old believes Malaysia has some of the biggest pool of music talents.
“There are so many hidden gems here.
“There are some whom I’ve been hoping to work with but the opportunity has to yet to present itself,” he said in an exclusive interview with the New Straits Times at Le Meridien Hotel in Kuala Lumpur recently.
Tam, who is also an actor, was in town to promote his latest Mandarin album, Appreciation.
The artiste, who has some 115 albums under his belt, last peformed here in January for his Alan Tam 40th Anniversary Concert Tour 2017, at the Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands.
Recently, he collaborated with Melaka-born singer Gin Lee, 30, who has six albums to her name. She is based in Hong Kong.
They worked on one of the tracks in Appreciation, a duet, Xing Ren Dao.
The catchy tune talks about embracing life and finding happiness in oneself.
Speaking highly of Lee, he said: “She is one of the few great young artistes I’ve worked with”.
“I love working with Lee, and enjoyed every moment recording the tune at the studio. She is a committed artiste who is not afraid to work hard. Give her a couple more years and I’m sure she will be a big star,” he added.
