KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Mohamad Fauzi Darus better known as Jay Jay has died.
The former Carefree lead vocalist was 66.
The sad news of his passing was announced by singer-actress Fauziah Ahmad Daud in a posting on her Facebook account today.
"We have lost an irreplaceable figure in the entertainment industry.
"May his soul be placed among the pious. My condolences to his family. Al-Fatihah," the post read.
It was previously reported that Jay Jay underwent heart surgery at the National Heart Institute on May 23.
He reportedly collapsed in a bus travelling from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur last month.
