ON Sept 23, award-winning Japanese rock star Anna Tsuchiya will headline the Japan x Malaysia Friendship Concert 2017, which will be held at Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach in Petaling Jaya.
“I will be delivering an energetic rock performance of my songs made for the anime series NANA.
“This will be my first visit to Malaysia, so I’m really looking forward to experiencing its nature and culture as well as its cuisine!” she told the New Straits Times recently.
Celebrating her 15th anniversary as a singer this year, Tsuchiya is among a small number of Japanese stars who have succeeded in music, film and fashion.
Of Japanese-Polish-American parentage, the mother of three started her career as a model at the age of 14, before slowly easing her way into a singing career, and later acting.
To date, the artiste, known for her hits Lucy, Guilty and Rose, has eight albums under her belt, and has starred in some 10 movies including Kamikaze Girls.
“I will be going on a tour to celebrate my 15th anniversary. After that I plan to start working on a new album. Look out for it!” she said, adding that her experiences of learning different cultures had influenced her music greatly.
Joining the 33-year-old star on stage next month at the Japan x Malaysia Friendship Concert 2017 are fellow Japanese acts, namely former member of Japanese girl group AKB48 and now-soloist Tomomi Itano, Harajuku dance rock band An Cafe, electro DJ/rap duo Charisma.com and idol group Juice=Juice.
Malaysian artistes set to take the stage are rapper Joe Flizzow, vocal powerhouse Jaclyn Victor, actor-singer Alvin Chong, rock band Bunkface and musical/jazz band FAZZ.
Organised by IME Malaysia, Toybox Projects and Ishida Taiseisha Inc, the Japan x Malaysia Friendship Concert 2017 is aimed at strengthening the bonds between Japan and Malaysia and also enhancing their musical and cultural understanding.
Concert-goers will enjoy musical performances and learn more about Japan’s tour destinations and culture at the event, which is held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of Japan and Malaysia’s business partnership.
Tickets to the concert are priced at RM428 (VIP free seating, including a Meet & Greet pass and official T-shirt), RM378 (VIP free seating), RM288 (Rock Zone free standing, Meet & Greet pass and a concert poster for the first 200 buyers), RM238 (Rock Zone free standing) and RM128 (Chill Zone free standing).
