IT’S been a long time coming for fans of Malaysia’s Queen of Rock Ella, who have been waiting for the release of the singer’s latest album.
Finally, a decade after the release of her last album, Rama Rama, the 51-year-old presented her fans with an eight-track album.
Ella, whose real name is Norzila Aminuddin, has dedicated a song to her husband, Azhar Ghazali, 36.
The song is entitled Peace.Love.Rindu. Composed by Lord, it is also the title of the album.
“There’s a story behind the tune, which sums up what we feel for each other,” she said at the album launch at Le Meridien in Kuala Lumpur last week.
“But it’s not about the usual quarrel-and-make up kind of story.
“It’s more than that,” said Ella, who tied the knot with Azhar in 2012.
The album took two years to complete since the singer was particular in selecting songs.
“I had to choose songs that would suit my hijab-wearing image,” said Ella, who started donning the headscarf last year.
Besides Lord, who is Ella’s old buddy from her Ella & The Boys’ days, the album also features songs composed by Datuk M. Nasir, Edrie Hashim, Omar K, Ezra Kong, AG Coco, Sam Bunkface, Keon, Buddhi Hikayat and Ad Samad.
Ella also expressed her joy for her sister, Jojie, who, together with her husband, Syahrizal Ismail, adopted a baby girl they named Maryam, recently.
However, the music legend said she was not ready to talk about doing the same thing.
“But I’m happy for them for their new addition to the family. I suppose for me, I’ll cross the bridge when I come to it.
“For now, my focus is on this baby,” she said, referring to her new record.
