KUALA LUMPUR: After seven months of silence, popular veteran singer Datuk Jamal Abdillah introduces fans to his new wife, Zai Izzati Khairuddin, 23.
The 58-year-old pop legend, in a recent news report, revealed that their 35-year age difference was "God's will" and he was happy to have a loving and caring new wife.
"Getting married again isn't easy, especially when you marry one who is years' junior than you. I admit that our journey as a married couple is only the beginning, and there's a lot more we both have to learn about each other," said Jamal.
The crooner admitted that Zai was "youthful and trendy" compared to him, and as a result, the "old soul" in him has made her "amend" certain "hip habits".
"I have my duties to fulfil as a husband, but at the same time, I also learn new things from her. The key to a good marriage is give and take."
Jamal and Zai tied the knot a month after they got to know each other.
Some of his family friends felt their marriage came "too quickly" but Jamal begged to differ.
"I gave my marriage a lot of thought, and also discussed it with my loved ones. When we first met, we did not go out together very often, and often chatted over the telephone."
Jamal was previously married to Basariah Abdul Latiff, Noraina Mohd Yusof and Fatimatuzahrah Samad.
He has two sons Osama Yamani, 16, from his marriage to Noraina and Ahmad Zaki Yamani, 10, from his marriage to Fatimatuzahrah.
