KUALA LUMPUR: Fans of SHINee will be happy to learn that the K-Pop group will hold its series of concerts in Japan next month, as planned.
Following the death of SHINee’s member Kim Jong-hyun last month, the fate of the event, dubbed SHINee World The Best 2018 ~ From Now On, was uncertain.
However, according to a news report by allkpop, the remaining four members have decided that the show must go on, a decision that they had shared through heartfelt handwritten letters.
Leader Onew wrote, “I thought this (concert) wouldn't work, and that we wouldn't be able to perform. But Jong-hyun's mother told us never to give up...
“Jong-hyun is forever a SHINee member, and will always be in our hearts, so I believe nothing will have changed.”
Key added, “I know many people support SHINee and want us to keep promoting... so we decided to continue on with our Japanese concert. This decision would be something Jong-hyun would have wanted from us.”
Minho wrote, “I'm worried about the quality of our performance but nothing can replace Jong-hyun’s place in the group.
“Therefore, I will sincerely prepare for all of SHINee’s upcoming shows by thinking that he will be with us every time.
“It’s harder than anyone can imagine, but I believe (SHINee’s fans) will give us the strength we need so we can all overcome this and keep our promise to continue performing.”
Taemin wrote, “I know the future won’t be easy, but I'm going to try my best so that the name SHINee will keep shining without losing its light or being forgotten.”
SHINee World The Best 2018 ~ From Now On will take place on Feb 17 and 18 in Osaka, and Feb 26 and 27 in Tokyo.
Kim died on Dec 18 by suicide.
