Backstreet Boys declares massive fan of K-Pop giant BTS

KUALA LUMPUR: American vocal group Backstreet Boys, who is arguably the best-selling boy band in history with over 130 million records sold worldwide, has declared earlier today that it was a big fan of popular South Korean boy band BTS.

The five-member group, comprising of Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, Howie D., AJ McLean and Brian Littrell, did so via a Q&A session on its twitter account (@backstreetboys).

A fan had posted a question which read: “Can't wait for you guys to perform at iheartawards! What do you think of @BTS_twt? They've been listening to your songs when they were growing up and admire you!”

In a video reply, which featured the members minus Littrell, Carter said: “Just so you know, we are big fans of BTS. Massive. We love them.”

He added that the Backstreet Boys was given the opportunity by famous American DJ Steve Aoki to preview a yet-to-be released remixed track of one of BTS’ songs.

“It's a remix that he did in the studio. We're also going to be doing something with Steve Aoki as well,” said Carter.

But what heated things up was his next statement. “We actually want to invite the guys to our show in Vegas, if you guys want to come,” he said.

Backstreet Boys became hugely popular after hitting the music scene in 1993 and has since been actively performing and releasing new material.

The group is apparently the only boy band to have had nine albums chart in the Top 10 on Billboard 200 and has its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

It is currently performing its first Vegas residency, titled Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life, which began last year in March and is expected to continue till November at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, the US.

The seven-member BTS was formed in 2013 and is one of the biggest K-Pop acts to date.

Made up of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook, the group has apparently made its way into the 2018 edition of the Guinness World Records for "having the world's most Twitter engagements for a music group."

Last December, the group was said to have been the most tweeted about celebrity of 2017, with an accumulation of over 500 million likes or retweets worldwide.
