KUALA LUMPUR: City Hall demolished five illegal residential structures and issued enforcement notices to seven others in a major coordinated operation in the Seputeh parliamentary constituency yesterday.
Various City Hall departments, including Enforcement, Integrity, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Building Control, and Civil Engineering and Drainage, took part in the operation, as stated in its Facebook page today.
City Hall demolished four homes with extensions blocking public drains and walkways, and one modified house that violated approved plans and encroached onto a public road reserve.
Enforcement notices were also served to seven other property owners under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974, requiring them to remove illegal structures voluntarily or face demolition.
The police, Tenaga Nasional Bhd, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor and the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation provided operational support.
City Hall has pledged to monitor identified hotspots and continue strict enforcement actions against illegal structures.
