KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity Azwan Ali is fuming, after discovering a fictitious ‘conversation’ between him and his elder brother, Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali on Twitter last Monday.
Lashing out at a group of Netizens who “created” the conversation involving photographs of the estranged siblings, Azwan said it was “just not funny”.
“I may not have a Twitter account now, but that doesn’t stop me from keeping an eye on trolls. To their credit, they didn’t poke fun at me with foul language, but I still feel insulted,” said Azwan in an interview today.
“Please go ahead, you trolls, wait till you get your just desserts!”
Azwan also dispelled talk that he and Azmin had reconciled their political and personal differences.
“No, I’m still not ready to bury the hatchet with him, even if he is a Minister now.”
Azwan said he closed his Twitter account early this month after it was hacked for the fifth time.
In the recent general election, he contested as an independent candidate against Azmin for the Bukit Antarabangsa State seat in Selangor, but obtained a mere 90 votes and lost his deposit.
When asked about his current activities, Azwan said he was taking a rest and visiting friends for buka puasa.
“For the last 10 years I went to Mecca every Ramadan for umrah but this year I'm staying at home. My next big plan is to go for the Haj.”
In the fictitious conversation between Azwan and Azmin, a Netizen identified as Syafiq Patric Cormac captioned Azmin’s photograph, “I’m busy Azwan! What do you want?”
Another Netizen Mat Sagu captioned Azwan’s photograph, “I’m cooking rendang, do come to my house this evening for buka puasa OK?”
The captions parodied Azwan’s election promise to distribute free rendang to Bukit Antarabangsa voters, regardless of the election results.
