KUALA LUMPUR: For fans of Netflix’s teen drama series 13 Reasons Why, there’s now another reason why you should get excited the next time you ogle at one of its cast - Ross Butler (who plays the character Zach Dempsey).
The 27-year-old actor is actually half-Malaysian, whose mother is Chinese-Malaysian and father, a British-Dutch.
Born in Singapore, Ross said in an interview that he moved to the US when he was four, and was raised by his mum in Fairfax, Virginia.
“I was born in Singapore, but my mother is Chinese-Malaysian,” he wrote on his Twitter recently.
Prior to becoming an actor, Butler studied engineering but dropped out after a year at the Ohio State University.
He moved to California shortly after to pursue a career in entertainment.
Looks like he’s on his way to become the Asian leading man Hollywood needs.
Ross is also going to appear in the upcoming film by David Sanberg, Shazam!
