#Showbiz: Dressing assistant to help with belt and zip, Aaron Aziz gets 'royal treatment' in India

KUALA LUMPUR: Hunky actor Datuk Aaron Aziz is certainly going places. The 42-year-old Singaporean can currently be seen in outer space in the exciting Kollywood movie Tik Tik Tik.

Apparently his big screen debut in a Tamil production from India included some fringe benefits that saw him getting royal treatment.

In a news report by Bernama, the actor related a surprising experience while on the set of the sci-fi thriller during his three week shoot in Chennai, India last year.

“In Malaysia, a wardrobe assistant would give us our costume and we’d put it on ourselves. But over there, the assistant would actually help me get dressed to the extent of even fastening my belt and zip. Of course I told the person that I could do it myself,” said Aaron with a laugh.

Aaron who has played the leading man in numerous local productions said that his willingness to accept a supporting role in the Indian movie was to learn and experience new things, in addition to working with seasoned actors, filmmakers and crew members.

Recalling his experience in India, he said: “On the first day of shooting, I was brought to an unassuming warehouse that didn't actually look like a production site. But when I entered the place, it was like a totally different world.”

“There were 300 people, each carrying out their various individual tasks at the venue. Lots of things were happening simultaneously but it was all very well organised. I was also treated really well. I’m really awestruck by their industry over there,” he said.

The film, directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan and co-starring Jayam Ravi, Nivetha Pethuraj and Ramesh Thilak, focuses on the establishment of India’s first space station.

Since premiering on June 22, Aaron has received positive comments from Netizens on social media for his onscreen portrayal in the movie, which also sees the actor conversing in English.

Aaron added that he would take on more projects in Kollywood if he was offered the chance to do so and encouraged his fellow actors in Malaysia to do the same should the opportunity arise.
