#SHOWBIZ: 'Only-one-wife' arrangement for Azah Aziz and hubby

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Azah Aziz, 51, has a special agreement with her husband, Daud Leroy Abdullah, in which he won't take on another wife while married to her.

Azah, who married the French citizen on Jan 7, 1995, has lived in several countries including Canada for a long time.

"I know about the domestic crisis of a celebrity couple in Malaysia that's a hot topic at the moment. What can I say, in marriage there are many ups and downs.

"Thank God my marriage will reach the 30-year mark in January 2025, so far it's okay.

"However, if you ask about our secret in maintaining our marriage, my thoughts are a little different.

"My husband, who is also a convert, can marry four women. But we have made a marriage agreement that he (husband) cannot marry more than one," she said in a recent Harian Metro report.

Azah added that she is not only married to a foreign man but has lived in several countries such as Canada and France which are far away from her family.

"I don't put all of my trust in my husband because I would also be enraged if he (husband) were to stray.

"In fact, from time to time I have to check where he goes. Plus, now I live in Malaysia and am active in acting and my husband works in Dubai.

"But, in this era of technology, it's easy for us to make phone calls every day. If I forget, my husband will call me because we must talk to each other before going to bed," she said.

Azah added that the two of them have a habit of making sure not to bring any arguments that happen between them to the next day.

"For me, we have to find this happiness (in a household) ourselves. What's important is to be patient and to be open to communication.

"In almost 30 years of living together, my husband and I have never had a major fight.

"If there's a disagreement, we must resolve it immediately because we don't want it to continue for a long time," she said.

The couple has three boys, Aaron, 26, Ryan, 20, and Justin, 17.
