#Showbiz: Mamat Khalid turns 'YB' to officiate school carnival

KUALA LUMPUR: Hantu Kak Limah director Mamat Khalid has become the talk of town as a result of the popularity of his horror comedy.

And Sekolah Menengah Idris Shah in Gopeng, Perak, even invited him as the guest of honour to officiate one of its extra-curricular programmes, Karnival Gegar SISG last Saturday.

A video posted on the school’s Karnival Gegar SISG Facebook page, and Mamat’s, sees the director smartly dressed in a suit and hat like a ‘YB’ (elected representative) officiating the weekend carnival.

Accompanied by teachers and school staff, he signed a plaque to mark the launch and also introduced guests to a specially-erected Hantu Kak Limah Haunted House to give them a scary, yet funny experience.

Better still, an unidentified individual dressed up as the film's title character, complete with ghostly make-up and untidy long hair, accompanied Mamat to the door of the “haunted house”.

“I’ve got some friends who have taught and studied here and I’ve known them since 1982. I’m happy that teachers and students greatly enjoy Hantu Kak Limah and have chosen to celebrate its success in this carnival,” said Mamat on his page.

Hantu Kak Limah which opened on Aug 9, raked in RM40 million in 27 days. It stars Datuk Awie, Mus of May, Delimawati, Zul Ariffin, Uqasha Senrose, Sabri Yunus and Ropie.
