KUALA LUMPUR: He may be a hard-rocking star on stage but Faizal Tahir is easily moved by the plight of youngsters who suffer at the hands of nasty bullies.
Yesterday, the award-winning singer, songwriter and composer uploaded two brief videos which revealed how two siblings from Syria, who had apparently escaped war back home, were been beaten up at school in the United Kingdom.
The first video showed a teenager identified only as Jamal getting beaten up by fellow students at a public school in Huddersfield, while the second showed his younger sister suffering the same fate at her school.
In the captions to his posts, Faizal said he was moved to tears by the plight of Jamal and his sister, and urged all Netizens to "say no to bullying and racism".
"To all Syrians out there, Muslim, Christian or whatever religion you believe in, my prayers are with you always.
"This is extremely depressing to watch.
"A young boy is bullied by a far right extremist and then water-boarded.
"He gets up and walks away as though he is used to such abuse.
"We demand answers from the school as to why such behaviour was allowed to continue even after his arm was fractured by the same bully only days prior to this incident.
"The sister of the boy was also bullied.
"I may not be there to protect you physically but my prayers are always with you.
"May God grant you, your family and all those who are facing the same trials with great strength and integrity.
"Stay strong, I am with you, God is with you," said Faizal.
More than 100 Netizens expressed support for Faizal, and agreed with him that everybody should oppose bigotry and bullying.
Kiera said: "It is not easy to live in a part of the world that does not make you feel at home."
Ika said: "May God protect him and his family."
