KUALA LUMPUR: Rustam Mustafah, better known as Tam, the lead singer of rock group Spider, recently revealed that his 14-year-old son was a victim of bullying.
This revelation has prompted other parents from the same boarding school to come forward with similar experiences, according to Harian Metro.
Sharifah Intan Nor Jahin, 44, whose son also attends the school, has called for the expulsion of the six students accused of bullying.
"These bullies should be expelled. If they aren't, the bullying will continue, with the current Form Four students following in their footsteps next year," she said.
A meeting was reportedly held between the school and parents of the Form Two students to address the issue.
Sharifah, a housewife, shared that her Form Two son has been bullied three times since late last year.
She claimed that he was hit in the stomach, chest, and neck by the bullies, and multiple police reports were filed by her and her husband.
Another parent, Mohamad Faisal Mohd Aziz, 46, stated that he found out this year that his son had been bullied by a Form Five student.
"My son was beaten by a group of bullies," he said.
Faisal, who is also a musician, has urged the school to take action against the bully.
"Bullying happens everywhere, even at work. But physical bullying is unacceptable. We aren't trying to spoil our children, and if they're at fault, we want appropriate action taken."
Actor Khir Rahman, 51, echoed the call for immediate action. He questioned why the school had difficulty taking action even after parents filed police reports.
"A police report should make it easier for action to be taken, not harder. Why hasn't the school acted on this?" he said, expressing concern for his son's safety.
Khir added: "These six bullies have been identified. Expelling them doesn't mean abandoning them."
"There should be a process, like restricting dormitory access for a few months. They need to understand the consequences of their actions," he said.
