#Showbiz: Better to cut ties with Qayyum's biological mum, says Aliff Syukri

KUALA LUMPUR: Cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman has had enough with the biological mother of his adopted son Qayyum, who wants him back.

In an Instagram post which he made yesterday, he slammed her for “attacking” him and his wife Datin Seri Nur Shahida Mohd Rashid behind their backs, and accusing them of not looking after Qayyum well.

He also advised Netizens who wanted to adopt children to be wary of such people.

“What should I do now for this innocent child? There are many people who are cheats. I’d advise parents who wish to adopt children to cut ties with their child’s biological mother.

“As long as they are kept in contact, they’ll give us headaches, as many pretend to be nice, yet condemn us behind our backs.

“If such people think they are perfect mothers, they should not give up their children for adoption!” said Aliff Syukri.

In the post which was accompanied by a brief video of himself with Qayyum, Aliff Syukri said that he and his wife worked hard to care for Qayyum when he was sick, and it was unfair for his biological mother to want him back.

“You should remember that we took good care of Qayyum. We made sure he received good medical treatment. And you think we run a hotel for babies? The Welfare Department visits us regularly and they’re happy with Qayyum, yet you complain about us non-stop!”

Some of his fans and followers voiced their support for Aliff Syukri and Nur Shahida, and told them to fight for their rights as Qayyum’s parents.

Haris said: “Poor Qayyum, if only he knew from the womb that his biological mother would give him away. He’s happy with a new family now, yet his biological mother wants to take away that happiness.”

Farhana said: “No mother would give her child away. I support you Datuk Seri and Datin Seri. Don’t give up.”

However, here were also voices of dissent, calling Aliff Syukri to be respectful of Qayyum’s biological mother and find a win-win situation with her.

Hanis said: “It’s not easy for a mother to give up her child. Please meet her and find an amicable solution which will benefit Qayyum and refrain from attacking her.”

Aliff Syukri, 31, adopted 1-year-old Qayyum last year. He and his wife kept in touch with the biological mother, but late last year, she requested that they returned Qayyum.

She alleged that one of Aliff Syukri’s domestic helpers manhandled Qayyum, and showed a video which went viral online as “proof”.

Aliff Syukri and his wife cared for the biological mother when she was seven months’ pregnant.

Besides Qayyum, they Aliff have another adopted child, Ameena, also 1.

The couple are already blessed with four biological children — Ammar Ahyan, 10, Qadejah El Zahra, 8, Ibraheem Adham, 6, and 6-month-old Yusoff Al-Qardawi.
