#Showbiz: BTS first male pop band to have stage wear designed by Dior

KUALA LUMPUR: As K-Pop juggernaut BTS entertains fans during its current Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour, which began last Saturday in the US, its seven members will certainly be performing in added style.

According to Soompi, luxury brand Dior had announced two days before the tour kicked off that, “BTS will be the first male pop band to have their stage outfits designed by Dior Menswear’s artistic director Kim Jones as they head off on their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour.”

BTS had apparently met with Jones in Los Angeles at the recent 61st Grammy Awards in February where they had talked about an upcoming collaboration.

Jones had said: “I love BTS because they’re great guys and also so fashionable. Everyone I know is crazy about them! I was inspired by BTS and each of the seven members picked the designs they wanted. We collaborated with them to create the outfits.”

BTS also released a statement via its agency, Big Hit Entertainment, on the collaboration with the renowned French fashion brand, which read: “We believe it is very meaningful that we are the first male artists to have our stage outfits designed by Dior. They shared designs that were inspired by our stages and music, and based on those designs, we shared ideas and created the stage outfits. We’re excited to wear these clothes in front of all our fans in the stadium.”

BTS started the tour with a performance at LA’s Rosebowl which will be followed by concerts in Chicago and New Jersey for the hot South Korean group’s American leg.

The boys will then head to Sao Paulo in Brazil, London in the UK and Paris in France, as well as Osaka and Shizuoka in Japan to complete the Speak Yourself extension stadium tour.

Soompi also reported that the music video to BTS’ big hit, Idol, has become the music outfit’s sixth one to reach over 450 million views on YouTube.

Apparently the music video hit the milestone sometime yesterday, which was approximately 254 days or slightly over eight months after it was uploaded on YouTube.

This makes Idol the K-Pop group’s the fastest music video to reach the 450 million views mark, followed by its other hits DNA, Fire, Fake Love, MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix) and Dope.

BTS is apparently the only Korean male music group to reach the milestone on YouTube so far.
