#Showbiz: BigBang's Daesung selling off 'tainted' Gangnam building?

KUALA LUMPUR: BigBang member Daesung is believed to be looking to sell off his building in the upmarket Gangnam district of Seoul after it made headlines for being a den for illegal businesses.

According to Soompi, Channel A reported yesterday that the K-Pop idol’s building was listed for sale to the tune of 40 billion won (about RM139 million).

It was said that if the sale went through for that current amount, Daesung would make a cool profit of about 5 billion won (about RM17.4 million).

A reporter from Channel A who pretended to be an interested buyer made a query about the sale to a broker who said: “Yes, that’s correct. There’s a team working covertly (to sell) it. We’ll make it happen quickly.”

The real estate broker revealed that the 30-year-old singer and actor had first made known his intention to sell off the building in June.

According to the report, this was after Daesung’s side became aware that Channel A was preparing to report on the illegal adult entertainment businesses that were operating in the building at the end of March.

The real estate broker apparently also revealed that Daesung’s entertainment agency was involved in the selling process as well, and said: “Yes, it’s ‘Y’ Entertainment. I won’t add the ‘G'.”

But YG Entertainment has strictly denied any involvement in the matter.

A source from the real estate industry had explained that it was not common for a building worth tens of billions of won to be put back on the market so quickly.

Channel A added that the police were having a hard time with investigations since the adult entertainment businesses in that particular building were already starting to close down their operations.
