PETALING JAYA: Zul Ariffin, who plays a ruthless mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter in his latest film Sangkar, has finally found the courage to reveal a wee bit about his future wife.
The 32-year-old actor said yesterday that she was a non-Muslim and they would tie the knot sometime next year.
“We don’t have a date yet, but we’ll definitely announce it later. We both agree that 2020 looks like a good time to tie the knot. For now, everything is still at planning stage,” he said at the press preview of Sangkar in MM2 Cineplex, E-Curve, Mutiara Damansara here yesterday.
Zul also said he and his future wife had agreed to keep her identity under wraps. “It’s our decision that she be anonymous until our big day. I don’t want people to think that she is going to become Muslim because she’s going to be my wife. She needs time, and we all want her to embrace Islam on her own conviction. For now, all we can do is give her our fullest moral support.”
Zul stars with Remy Ishak and Mira Filzah in Sangkar which opens in cinemas on Aug 29. Directed by Kabir Bhatia, the film tells the story of two MMA fighters who are bitter rivals but become close friends after one of them gets seriously injured in a fight.
