#Showbiz: 'Wendy is hurting a lot right now' - Red Velvet's Joy

KUALA LUMPUR: Joy of popular K-Pop girl group Red Velvet recently revealed that fellow group member Wendy has not fully recovered from the fall during a rehearsal of an SBS show in Seoul on Christmas Day.

According to Koreaboo, the 23-year-old Joy who appeared as a guest on the KBS2 show, Happy Together, yesterday had offered the first piece of news on Wendy since her mishap.

She said: “Our Wendy is hurting a lot right now. I hope that she recovers this year and that we’ll be able to go out on concert tours again.”

It was earlier reported that Wendy, 25, had sustained fractures on her right cheek, wrist and hip after falling off a stage due to the negligence of the TV concert production team.

The group’s agency, SM Entertainment, had announced that Wendy would not be participating in any of Red Velvet’s activities at the moment.

During the Happy Together episode, Joy also expressed her intentions for the new year when queried by the hosts. She said: “Rather than have big, ambitious dreams, I want to become a person who takes good care of the people around her and does not miss out on the little things that constitute happiness.”

The idol also talked about being recently diagnosed with somatisation disorder, which is characterised by an extreme focus on physical symptoms, such as pain or fatigue that causes emotional distress and difficulty in functioning.

“I am frequently drawn to healthy foods because my body is so sensitive. Once, my chest felt so tight and heavy that I visited the clinic where I learned that the root of all my pain was the disorder,” she said.

When asked about her way of relieving stress and anger, Joy simply said: “I look at pictures of my dog.”
