KUALA LUMPUR: Navy seals movie Paskal's main antagonist, actor Ammar Alfian has won more than RM500,000 in a fraud and misrepresentation lawsuit against a fitness company.
A statement from his lawyers NHA Advocates And Solicitors today said that Sessions Court Judge Zuhrina Mohamed Nor entered judgement last Monday, and Guardian Fitness was ordered to pay half a million ringgit for damages plus interest and court costs to Ammar.
Last year Ammar sued Guardian Fitness, alleging that the company had invited him to invest in over RM400,000 in return for 30 per cent equity.
He entered into a business agreement in 2016 through invitation by one of the directors of Guardian Fitness.
Ammar believed that the company had fabricated its profit and loss statement to get him to invest in it.
The 30 per cent shares paid by the actor were for a minority stake of a 744-square metre Anytime Fitness gymnasium in Menara Hap Seng 2, Jalan P. Ramlee here.
“We are extremely happy that our client, Ammar Alfian got the justice he wanted,” said Nurul Hafidzah Hassan, the senior partner of NHA Advocates And Solicitors. She was assisted by lawyer Zeti Zulkifli.
Ammar, whose real name is Ammar Alfian Aziz has been acting since 2008 and his best known films include KL Gangster 2, Showdown The Movie, Langit Cinta and Paskal.
His best known television dramas include Tari Tirana, Sahara, Musim Cinta Belum Berlalu, Nasuha, Syurga Nur and Hello Mr Perfect.
In the 2018 movie Paskal, directed by Adrian Teh, Ammar played a rogue member of the Royal Malaysian Navy's Special Marine Force (Paskal), Zariff Zafrudin or Jeb.
The movie also starred Hairul Azreen, Henley Hii, Taufiq Hanafi and G. Theeban.
