#SHOWBIZ: Company demands RM500k from Michael Ang for alleged breach of contract

KUALA LUMPUR: Famous producer and director Michael Ang was asked to pay RM500,000 to Armani Entertainment Sdn Bhd for allegedly breaching a contract that was agreed upon three years ago.

Its CEO Datuk KK Chua said that part of the two contracts in question was for Ang to include artistes under the company in two popular TV reality programmes, according to a Harian Metro report today.

Chua added that the artistes under the management of Armani Entertainment were also promised to be given a main and a supporting actor role in a drama produced by Ang's company.

"We had paid cash amounting to RM250,000, while another RM250,000 was used to pay for the remodeling of his house in Desa Park, Kuala Lumpur which was paid through the Fix It Til You Make It programme.

"However, Michael only performed three tasks contained in the contract, namely including one soundtrack song, to provide a supporting role for an actor and to serve as a judge of the programme in six locations.

"The agreement was signed on Oct 1, 2021 but until now, Michael has not fulfilled the responsibilities as contained in the contract," he said.

Chua added that when Ang had been contacted after failing to fulfil the first contract, he requested for more time and signed the second contract on Sept 2, 2022.

"Because he (Ang) was unable to fulfill his obligations in the first contract, we asked him to return the money but Michael refused to do so.

"After giving a second chance, Michael still failed to fulfill the responsibilities promised in the contract.

"After taking various things into account, our side had filed a lawsuit against Michael," he said.

Chua's lawyer, Lim Zi Hwei, had informed that the first mention of the case will be held on Aug 5 at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.

Meanwhile, Ang refused to comment on the matter when contacted and said that he would leave it to his lawyer to resolve the case.
