KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Keith Foo has been spending his time during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period as a volunteer with St John Ambulance of Malaysia (SJAM).
In a news report yesterday, the 37-year-old Ariana Rose star said: "It's better for me to devote my efforts to helping the public rather than just having nothing to do at home."
Foo, who has been volunteering with SJAM for the past two years, admitted that the only drawback was him being away from his 3-year-old son, Skylar Raymond Foo.
"I'm attached to the Seremban branch which focuses mainly on the areas within Negri Sembilan. But we've since had calls to help out the team from their headquarters in Cheras that services the Klang Valley.
"Before this, we only provided an ambulance service to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital and organised blood donation campaigns," he said.
The actor, whose full name is Keith Foo Chuan Chin, added that his team has been tasked with delivering personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitisation appliances and face masks to hospitals and clinics around KL during the MCO.
He also said that the blood donation campaigns were still an ongoing activity.
"I'm usually on duty two or three days a week and it's fun and personally rewarding to do this community service. Even before this (MCO), I would spare some volunteering time to slot between my work schedule," he said.
Since the MCO came into effect, Foo admitted that many of his work projects got derailed, including the shooting for a 26-episode RTM drama, titled Dia Bukan Bidadari.
The Gemas-born actor added that they had managed to shoot for several days around Hulu Langat before the start of the MCO.
"At the time I had to be quarantined for two weeks just to ensure the safety of my family members and others," he said.
