Nicko Jeep launches initiative to raise RM500k yearly for St John Ambulance

SUBANG JAYA: A confectionary food manufacturer has launched a long-term corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at raising RM500,000 annually to support St John Ambulance Malaysia (SJAM).

Nicko Jeep Manufacture Sdn Bhd's "Tastes Like Good Deeds" involves the sale of Himalaya Vajomba Altice Fresh Mints, with 20 sen from each packet sold being donated to support the ambulance services.

Over the past four months, the initiative has already raised a total of RM132,220.80.

Nicko Jeep founder and managing director Datuk Kenny Low said Himalaya Vajomba was founded to be more than just a brand.

He said it was a mission to serve society meaningfully.

"Since the soft launch of Altice Fresh Mints, we have raised RM132,000 in Malaysia and today we are honoured to present this amount to SJAM, an organisation dedicated to supporting lives and communities. This amount is not just money, it's a promise of hope.

"Going beyond donations, we are handing over an ambulance to the St John branch in Melaka and this vehicle isn't just for transport; it is a lifeline in critical moments, embodying our belief in real, impactful change.

"Just like our candy, this CSR initiative is infused with generosity and care, allowing you to make a lasting impact simply by purchasing and enjoying a packet of Himalaya Vajomba candy," he said.

Low said Nicko Jeep will continue supporting SJAM through candy sales, fundraising activities, and awareness campaigns to further grow the Tastes Like Good Deeds project and strengthen their partnership.

SJAM commander-in-chief Datuk Lai See Ming said, for over a century, SJAM has provided vital healthcare, including a 24-hour emergency ambulance service in 10 key areas, often making a life-saving difference.

He said its mobile clinics, staffed with professionals and volunteers, bring essential healthcare to remote and underserved communities, including warung asli, orphanages, and those in extreme poverty.

"As a non-profit, SJAM faces rising costs and increasing demand, particularly for ambulances and trained personnel, making it difficult to sustain their services without adequate funding.

"Corporate partnerships are vital for sustaining SJAM's work where initiatives like Nicko Jeep's donation of proceeds from Himalaya Vajomba candies and the donation of a fully-equipped ambulance highlight how corporations can make a meaningful impact on public health efforts," he said.

Low presented the cheque and ambulance to Lai and his deputy, Datuk Burnard Yeo Kim Thong, as well as SJAM Melaka commander Datuk Kua Mong Lui to commemorate the CSR project's launch.

Present at the event were Watson Malaysia trading director Foo Hwei Jiek, actor, movie producer and radio announcer Jack Lim and Paralympic gold medalist Cheah Liek Hou.
