KUALA LUMPUR: It's the eleventh hour and movie fans are certainly waiting with bated breath to flock once more to the cinemas to get a potent dose of movie magic.
It's been a highly-anticipated moment ever since the government gave the green light for cinema chains to resume operations starting from tomorrow.
No surprise that movie buffs would be rabid anxious to scratch that cinematic itch after having to withhold the collective big screen experience for more than three months now.
Well the wait is almost over and all that pent up frustration is about to get its release finally.
But wait. It's the new normal and things are going to be handled a little differently than what everyone's been used to prior to the Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing Movement Control Order (MCO).
Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) had humourously pointed this out in a post several hours ago on its official Facebook page.
The entry kicked off with: "I come with girlfriend/boyfriend, cannot sit together meh? I come with my friend, can sit together ah? From same house, cannot ah? Can sit on my lap ah?"
Then it simply ended with: "HELLO. CANNOT."
Cinemagoers will obviously have to keep it together by staying apart via social distancing and adhering to various other SOPs that have been put in place by the cinema operators.
GSC has already got some heroic help from Boboiboy and his merry band of friends to provide awareness to cinemagoers on the dos and don'ts of catching a flick in the new normal through signage and videos.
Perhaps the spaced out seating is not so bad after all. There's ample space for more food and no one's going to be kicking your seat from behind.
With the promise of a contactless experience from start to finish, let's hope that everything will proceed smoothly and that movie fans will get to indulge in motion picture goodness again in a safe space.
