KUALA LUMPUR: Film producer Datuk Yusof Haslam and Karyawan president Datuk Freddie Fernandez are among 12 individuals appointed to sit on Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) Consultation and Corruption Prevention Panel (CCPP).
Meanwhile, seven individuals have been made advisors while another five have joined its Operations Review Panel (ORP).
"All the 24 appointed members are professionals and experts from various fields. Representing the different groups in the community, the panel will be overseeing MACC's operational and functional implementation," according to a press statement from MACC today.
The agency's Anti-Corruption Advisory Board (ACAB) is chaired by former Dewan Negara Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang and comprises former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar, former Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Azman Ujang, Datuk Seri Akhbar Satar, Datuk Dr Hamzah Kassim, Datuk David Chua Kok Tee and Prof Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff.
The members of the board were appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah effective May 21 to May 20, 2023, on the advice of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin according to Section 13, MACC Act 2009.
Meanwhile the 12-member panel, whose appointment takes effect from June 1 to May 31, 2022, will be chaired by former Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Borhan Dolah.
Among the panel members are Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia's lead activist Datuk Nadzim Johan, the Malaysian Press Institute's chairman Datuk Chamil Wariya, Yusof and Freddie.
Attorney General's Chambers' former Prosecution Division deputy head II, Datuk Ahmad Rosli Mohd Sham has been appointed as chairman of ORP, with panel members including former deputy director Financial Intelligence and Enforcement Division of Bank Negara Malaysia Dr Mazlan Ahmad, former deputy chief executive officer (Compliance), Inland Revenue Board Datuk Abdul Manap Dim, former Kelantan state secretary Datuk Mohd Faudzi Che Mamat, and former Customs deputy director-general (Enforcement and Compliance) Datuk Azimah Abdul Hamid.
