#Showbiz: Indonesian actor Ade Firman Hakim dies of Covid-19

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular Indonesian actor Ade Firman Hakim, best known for appearing in the historical films Guru Bangsa: Tjokroaminoto and Soekarno: Indonesia Merdeka died of Covid-19 yesterday. He was 32.

Indonesian news portal Liputan6 reported today that Ade Firman died at 5.20pm in Jakarta, and his death was announced by his younger brother Dai Tirta.

"My brother fell ill a week ago, and his condition quickly deteriorated. I took him to the Tarakan General Hospital for treatment, and initially he was still able to contact his friends on the telephone, even though I forbade him," said Dai Tirta, adding that doctors confirmed that he had contracted Covid-19.

Ade Firman was buried at the Tegal Alur Cemetery yesterday night, subject to Standard Operating Procedures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Dai Tirta himself was also tested for Covid-19, and is awaiting the results.

Born on Oct 20, 1988 in Jakarta, Ade Firman first found fame contesting in Abang None Jakarta 2008, an annual contest to find young cultural ambassadors for Indonesia's capital city. He represented West Jakarta and made it to the finals.

Ade Firman was best known for playing Indonesian cabinet minister Chaerul Saleh in Soekarno: Indonesia Merdeka (2013) alongside One, Two, Jaga and Gundala actor Ario Bayu who played Indonesia's first President Sukarno.

He also played Indonesian communist leader Musso in 2015's Guru Bangsa: Tjokroaminoto alongside My Stupid Boss and Habibie & Ainun star Reza Rahadian who played Indonesian Islamist nationalist Raden Umar Said Tjokroaminoto.

His other films included Ratu Ilmu Hitam, Sabyan Menjemput Mimpi and #Malam Jumat: The Movie.
