KUALA LUMPUR: One of Malaysia's premiere cinema chains, TGV Cinemas, is taking proactive measures to diversify its business to offset the closure of cinemas nationwide this month.
TGV general manager of marketing and sales, Mohit Bhargava, said that TGV would be launching its own e-commerce platform to enable the public to easily obtain its products.
"Just like other cinemas, TGV will sell things like souvenirs, snacks and film vouchers via e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, as well as through stalls in shopping malls.
"In the near future, we will also launch an online store or our very own e-commerce platform in order to make it easy for our customers to purchase TGV products online," he said in a news report yesterday.
He added that TGV was hopeful that the Covid-19 crisis be resolved quickly and for things to be able to return to normalcy.
"A very big thank you to our customers who have given their undying support to us and the cinemas across the country.
"We have always made sure that the SOPs have been adhered to and that the safety of our customers continues to be our top priority. Hopefully, the cinemas will get to operate once more as usual in the future," he said.
Last Friday, the Malaysian Association of Film Exhibitors (MAFE) announced its decision to temporarily suspend operations at all cinemas across Malaysia for this month.
