KUALA LUMPUR: Enfiniti is currently screening the digitally-remastered original theatrical cut of its award-winning movie Puteri Gunung Ledang (PGL) online on the EnfinitiV.Asia video streaming platform.
Fans will be able to watch the 10-day limited run from now until Nov 22.
The special streaming of director Saw Teong Hin's original 145-minute cut will also include deleted scenes and The Making Of Puteri Gunung Ledang documentary.
This follows the recent streaming of the 115-minute producer's cut on YouTube last month in celebration of Enfiniti's anniversary.
That one-night screening garnered over 5,000 views with live interaction on YouTube's live stream chat and positive comments on Enfiniti's social media sites.
Fans had also requested for an extension of the streaming, as well as a screening of the original theatrical release of the epic movie.
Enfiniti founder, Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, said: "I cried, upon watching the movie again after so many years. I couldn't have imagined, 16 years ago, that this film would stand the test of time and become a classic someday."
Tiara, who is also PGL's executive producer and lead actress, added: "I'm so grateful for the dedication of director Teong Hin and everyone involved. When I watch the behind-the-scenes footage, it brings back memories of how challenging this project was but every last person involved gave it their all."
She said that many had nostalgic memories of the movie, having watched it with their parents or when they were young and are now rediscovering it with their own children.
"Cinemas are sadly now closed indefinitely, so this could be the last opportunity for fans of PGL and Malay Cinema to watch this original theatrical cut, now beautifully remastered.
"I hope you will all enjoy our labour of love as a gift to all film lovers," she said.
PGL premiered at the Venice International Festival in 2004 and was Malaysia's first film to make the official selection.
It was the country's first ever submission to the 2005 Academy Awards under the title, A Legendary Love, making it to the top 50 shortlists for Best Foreign Film.
It also bagged several local and international awards, including Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Art Direction and Best Music Score at the Malaysia Film Festival in 2004.
Tiara won Best Actress award at the 50th Asia Pacific Film Festival and Best Producer at the Asian Festival of First Films (2005).
