KUALA LUMPUR: Multi-talented Adibah Noor wants to take her "mini tutorials" further by joining DidikTV Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (DidikTV KPM).
The award-winning singer, actress and television host has been a hit with Netizens since the start of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in March last year, for sharing correct English pronunciations of common words on social media, particularly Facebook and Twitter.
Some Netizens have even suggested that she set up her own YouTube channel to help Malaysians improve their command of English.
"I'd like to offer my services to the Education Ministry, to 'teach' English on DidikTV KPM. Boleh?" tweeted Adibah yesterday.
The tweet garnered more than 19,500 likes, and many Netizens told her to go for it since she was a qualified English teacher.
One Netizen, Zaza said: "I fully support you Kak Dibah, you're the best. I've learnt a lot about good English by following you on social media, and I'm sharing your lessons with my children, too."
Another Netizen, Aiman said: "You're the best person for the job, Kak Adibah. You're a great teacher, and a rare entertainer of many talents."
Adibah, 50, who was an English teacher before embarking on an entertainment career in 1994, recently corrected a TV3 news anchor's pronunciation of the world "wilderness".
She also corrected a grammatical error made by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Harun in her televised speech.
In August last year, Adibah said that as a former English teacher, she felt duty bound to ensure that her fellow artistes, especially those who were radio announcers, pronounced English words correctly.
DidikTV KPM began broadcasting daily from 7am to midnight yesterday, on MYTV (Channel 107), Astro (Channel 147) and TV Unifi (Channel 107).
The new channel is aimed at providing easier access to education for students around the country.
A strategic collaboration between the Education Ministry and Media Prima Berhad, it has teachers with vast experience help students enhance their learning experience.
The channel which is a rebranding of ntv7, was launched by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.
