#Showbiz: Mindy Kaling, Bonnie Hunt join new Monsters Inc. spin-off

KUALA LUMPUR: Adorable monster duo Mike and Sully are back!

No, there will not be another Monsters Inc. sequel yet, but Disney+ has a spin-off series called Monsters At Work which will be released on July 2.

And popular comediennes Mindy Kaling (Ocean's 8) and Bonnie Hunt (Jumanji) will be joining the series' star-studded voiceover cast.

Entertainment portal AsiaOne reported today that according to Disney+, Kaling would play the monster Val Little, "an enthusiastic member of the Monsters Inc. Facilities Team or MIFT".

Hunt will reprise her role as Ms Flint from Monsters Inc. but this time she will manage the department responsible for recruiting and training monsters to be Jokesters.

Besides Kaling and Hunt, the Monsters At Work cast includes Ben Feldman (Friday The 13th) as Tyler, Henry Winkler (Happy Days) as Fritz, Lucas Neff (Raising Hope) as Duncan, Alanna Ubach (Coco) as Cutter, Stephen Stanton as Smitty and Needleman, and Aisha Tyler as Millie.

The original Monsters Inc. voice stars will also reprise their roles — Billy Crystal is Mike, John Goodman is Sully, John Ratzenberger is The Abominable Snowman, Jennifer Tilly is Celia and Bob Peterson is Roze.

Monsters Inc. which premiered in 2001 tells the story of scary yet harmless monsters who lived in children's bedrooms.

The successful film was followed by a prequel Monsters University in 2013.
