#Showbiz: 'I've given details about Dr Nur to Wisma Putra' - Iesya Toh

KUALA LUMPUR: Selamat Pagi Malaysia host Iesya Toh is giving her full cooperation to Wisma Putra which is looking for 'Dr Nur', believed to be under Israeli custody.

Iesya or Nor Iesyatirradiah Sanny Toh, 37, said that she was fully responsible for sharing information on 'Dr Nur' with Wisma Putra, and sincerely believed that the Malaysian doctor was in trouble.

"A few weeks ago I was contacted by a doctor from Kuala Lumpur Hospital, who told me that a colleague on a humanitarian mission in Palestine had been detained by Israeli authorities.

"I did a bit of research and found that the information was true. Subsequently I sent a WhatsApp message to (Foreign Minister) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, and included the doctor's contact number for further information," said Iesya in a news report yesterday.

Yesterday, the Foreign Ministry urged Iesya and singer-actress Heliza Helmi to provide information on 'Dr Nur'.

The ministry acknowledged the sharing on social media of the doctor's detention, but it has not been able to ascertain the doctor's personal details, because the Malaysian Embassies in Cairo, Egypt and Amman, Jordan did not have any records of the doctor's activities in Palestine.

The ministry also collected screenshots of posts made by the public regarding 'Dr Nur' and informed the police, the Immigration Department (JIM) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for further investigation.

Iesya said: "I'm very serious about helping 'Dr Nur', and as the host of a news programme I have a responsibility to help people in distress, including those who contact me on social media."

She added that her job introduced her to prominent people including ministers, and this came in handy in helping to find 'Dr Nur'.
