#SHOWBIZ: It was my mistake, says Anwar on conflict with Noraniza Idris

KUALA LUMPUR: Director and screenwriter, Anwar Rusdini, who was fired from the Qalam Noraniza Idris project, admitted that the crisis between him and Noraniza was his mistake.

Anwar said the matter happened because he trusted Noraniza too much despite being warned to be careful if he wanted to work with the singer.

"When I was able to work with Noraniza, I was very excited. This is because I really like her and she has been my idol since childhood.

"It's true that a friend advised me to be careful when working with her, but I preferred to give her the benefit of the doubt.

"With what has happened, I consider it my fault because I trusted her too much," he said in a Berita Harian report today.

Anwar added that he did not regret what had happened and took it as a lesson learnt.

"I don't regret it, it's just a lesson for me. Whatever work you want to do, you have to get paid a deposit first.

"It can't be denied that there's a bit of disappointment and sadness as Noraniza still blames me for the concert tickets not being sold.

"Whatever it is, I wish her the best," he said.

Anwar also claimed that the purpose of issuing a statement to the media was not because he wanted to demand payment for a task that had already been carried out.

Rather, he hoped that Noraniza would be professional and not take advantage of arts practitioners like himself.

"I just want her to not to do what she pleases to others. Just because I'm new, she can't  just use me like that," he said.

Earlier, the conflict erupted after Noraniza fired Anwar as the performance director and scriptwriter of Noraniza Idris' Qalam Concert, which is now set to take place at Panggung Bangsawan Melaka, next month.

Noraniza claimed that initially Anwar was selected as a script writer, but volunteered to take on the responsibility of directing the show due to a lack of manpower.

Following the incident, Noraniza claimed that it had affected her emotions and the concert, including ticket sales.
