KUALA LUMPUR: While actress Ellie Suriaty and her family members have made a stand to refuse the Covid-19 vaccine, her actor husband Azri Iskandar had gotten himself fully vaccinated.
Ellie, 51, said Azri had gone behind her back to take the vaccine since it was a requirement for those who want to continue working in the creative industry.
"Since he's the head of the family and the breadwinner, there's no reason for me to pick a quarrel with him over that," she said in a news report today.
Ellie however insisted their family were not anti-vaxxers.
"Our main concern is that the vaccine for Covid-19 is still under clinical trial. So we worry about the safety and side effects to the body," said the artiste and film director who opted for "alternative" ways to keep healthy.
Last month, Azri and Ellie's children Azrell Omar, 17, and Nur Azreen Omar, 12, lodged a police report to stress their right to refuse the government's vaccination on students.
