#Showbiz: Once an anti-vaxxer, Siti Sarah's brother urges people to get vaccinated

KUALA LUMPUR: Ahmad Firdous, the elder brother of the late singer Siti Sarah Raissuddin said that being down with Covid-19 "knocked sense into his head", as he had previously been against vaccination for the coronavirus.

In a brief video testimony uploaded on Twitter by a doctor identified as Dr Khairul Hafidz yesterday, Ahmad Firdous said that he initially thought that the danger posed by the coronavirus had been exaggerated, and as a result he did not bother to get vaccinated.

"From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all frontliners for helping me recover from the coronavirus, and for making me realise how dangerous it is.

"My month-long stay in hospital was an eye-opener, it was harrowing to see what Covid-19 patients went through."

Ahmad Firdous described all frontliners as national heroes who protected Malaysia from its deadliest invisible threat, which took the life of his only sister and thousands of others.

"To all frontliners, I love and respect all of you. You took great care of me during my hospitalisation, and nursed me back to good health. I will always be grateful to you."

Ahmad Firdous promised to get vaccinated quickly, and advised all Malaysians to support the government's on-going vaccination drive.

Ahmad Firdous was admitted to Serdang Hospital after being tested positive for the coronavirus on Aug 2.

Siti Sarah, 37, died at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Cheras on Aug 9, after battling Covid-19 for two weeks.

Her fourth child, Ayash Affan Shahmira was born prematurely three days before her death.
