KUALA LUMPUR: In the absence of films, television programmes and live shows during the Movement Control Order (MCO), multi-talented artiste Datuk Afdlin Shauki has turned his sights on greenhouse farming.
The 52-year-old singer, director, producer and stand-up comedian has been managing two greenhouses in Sendayan, Negri Sembilan, since the MCO began in March 2020.
Afdlin plants several types of vegetables, specially for Klang Valley consumers.
"I began farming at the start of the MCO to keep myself active in the absence of films, television programmes and live shows," he said in a news report yesterday.
"As one of many entertainers struggling to survive, I had to do something to make ends meet, and greenhouse farming turned out to be just the new passion for me."
Afdlin added that the Agriculture and Food Industries Ministry fully supported his project.
"I want to thank them for their strong support. They gave me lots of useful advice on greenhouse farming, now I've got two greenhouses in Sendayan and I market my produce in agricultural markets and wholesale markets," he said.
