KUALA LUMPUR: The mother of popular celebrity Neelofa, Datin Noor Kartini, recently jumped onto the TikTok wagon and was pleasantly surprised by the number of views she received for her videos on the new account.
"I never expected to have millions of people watching a video that I had uploaded," she said in a recent news report.
The successful entrepreneur added that she had created an account on the interactive and entertainment application as a way to further boost her businesses and brands.
"As a long-time businessperson, I had already been aware of many heading towards social media platforms like Facebook to promote their businesses.
"But till today, I'm still not really good at using my Facebook account.
"When I stumbled on TikTok I thought, 'why not give it a try?' I didn't want to be late to this and was curious to quickly see if it could be effective from a business aspect," she said.
When asked about utilising various attention-grabbing gimmicks which is a common method for many TikTok users, Kartini explained that no one would be seeing her dancing anytime soon.
"It's better to incur benefits through more gracious methods in doing business, so no need to joget lah. I'm certainly aware that I'll be getting lots of brickbats if I did.
"But in terms of criticism, no one can escape that, even if we don't go overboard. It's up to people to say what they want to say. What's most important are our intentions," she said.
So far, Kartini's TikTok account has about 82 uploaded videos and over 68,300 followers.
