KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian singer based in Taiwan Eison Chai died yesterday morning after he allegedly fell from a building close to an MRT station in Luzhou, New Taipei. He was 40.
According to Focus Taiwan, the New Taipei police confirmed that the death took place at 10am when Chai was reported to have fallen from the seventh floor of a building close to the exit area of the particular MRT station.
Chai who is married to Taiwanese actress Hitomi Wu was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was allegedly in a bad mood the night before and went to the building to visit his 35-year-old wife.
Yesterday morning, Wu had gone to Yilan and Chai had reportedly locked himself in the room before his fall from the balcony.
Police are currently carrying out an investigation on the unfortunate incident with no further details coming to light yet.
Chai made a name for himself after winning the second season of the popular singing competition, Taiwan's Super Idol, held between 2008 and 2009.
The singer and his wife tied the knot in 2020 and recently celebrated their second wedding anniversary on July 28.
In a recent Facebook post from him, which has since been deleted, Chai wrote: "Love is the most difficult subject in the world, but also the easiest. Love her and you will have eternity!"
